Ramina Dehkhoda-Steele, Partner of Wong Fleming, spoke on a panel on Monday, March 13, 2023 at the 2023 Driving Diversity and Leadership Conference for the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF). The discussion was titled “Financial Services Litigation PAC CLE: Traffic Jams, Potholes, Fender Benders and Freeways”. Ms. Dehkhoda-Steele served on the panel as a Moderator and was joined by panelists Kathleen Nitschke, Perez Morris; Michelle Mierzwa, Wright, Finley & Zak LLP; Carolyn Taylor, Hughes, Watters, Askanase LLP; Emily Baggs, American Honda Motor Company, Inc.; and Michelle Nickel, Toyota Motor Credit Corporation.
During this interactive auto finance session, the panel discussed topics in federal and state regulatory compliance including FDCPA, Debt Validation Notices, FCRA, ECOA, SCRA and Fair Lending, scrutiny of “junk/hidden” fees; risk management including dealer engagement, lending/application fraud, disparate pricing, repossession/impoundment, GAP waivers and conclude with class action defense strategies and recent cases in meaningful attorney involvement and Article III standing.
