In Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month Wong Fleming Recognizes Senator Catherine Cortez Masto
Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is a former Nevada Attorney General, who made history as the first Latina woman to be elected to the United States Senate. During her tenure as Attorney General, she supported rights of women, children, and seniors. She also led the movement to end sex trafficking in Nevada. Senator Cortez Masto has served as one of Nevada’s U.S. Senators since 2016. She continues to advocate for social justice issues, underrepresented minorities and families.
Senator Cortez Masto is known for her co-sponsorship and introduction of legislation for sex trafficking, health care, and housing. She was instrumental in the passage of Savanna’s Act, the Home Loan Quality Transparency Act, the Not Invisible Act of 2019, and the Marketplace Certainty Act.
